My photograph of this hideously beautiful beast has made it to the top spot in JPG Magazine's "House Hunting" Photo Challenge [download it here.] JPG is my new favorite publication, combining incredibly good, user-submitted photography with a balanced, democratic selection process. It combines old and new forms in a way that really works, and it means a lot when your work is chosen/praised by fellow amateur photographers.

Doppelgang.
I've become interested in people who share my name and how we may or may not be connected or similar. My favorite so far in this nomenclature project is Matthew Carman in Carroll County, Maryland, who was recently awarded "Best Udder in Show," according to the bottom of this release from carrollcountyfair.com (do I sense a county-fair Carman competition?)
There's a Matthew Carman who went to the same school as my ex-girlfriend, and a Matthew Carman who apparently helps process my paychecks. I'm curious to see where this takes me.
