So it took me a long time to figure out how to get photos off of my phone.

Harveyville, Kansas Water Tower

Me, Samsung SGH-A737 Phone
I recently pulled this image of the Harveyville, Kansas water tower from my cell phone, a year and a half after we drove out there. I don't usually use the camera on my phone, but I remember being amazed by this sky and not wanting to run inside to grab a real camera for fear of losing the moment. The tiny plastic lens makes everything very smooth and painterly, and it's interesting to see this shot of the tower next to the other (sharper) ones I and Kseniya took, especially with all the different skies behind it. A total of four different cameras were used for these.

92Y Tribeca recently presented a Swayze Days of Summer film series, with some of his more popular/acclaimed films (Dirty Dancing, The Outsiders) and the pulpy parts (Road House, Steel Dawn). It was a great celebration of his work and his love of acting, no matter the project. As we've seen from Donnie Darko, he was always able to laugh at himself a little bit.
He seemed incredibly classy (stayed committed to his wife through all his decades of heartthrobdom!), and if you've seen the instructional video Swayze Dancing, you know he loved his mom more than anything. Sweet guy.

Spending a lot of time with the San Diego Zoo Panda Cam. Though apparently, not everyone is a fan.

On a Boat
My aunt and uncle make their own cards, and the last few of my birthdays they've been nautical-themed. In addition to being unique and well-crafted (each one is more bold or detailed than the last), these cards are extremely helpful, as I am able to display them every year in my living room without violating the "Boats Only" code.
L to R (roughly):
-Handcrafted boat from Melissa Meyer
-Mug featuring Henry Hudson's Half Moon, from Kseniya on Hudson's birthday
-This year's card with tiny knotted rope and raised printing (take that, Hallmark.)
-Polaroid that blurred weirdly and came out looking like a tall ship on rough seas, but is actually of an apartment building
-Painting from my grandparents' hallway
-Model boat in need of some repair, free at a stoop sale
-Hong Kong postcard of a Chinese "junk" boat
-Smaller handcrafted boat from Melissa Meyer
-String art on cork board, I think made by my grandfather. I don't know why the looseleaf reinforcement is on there, but that's the way it's always been.
-Pair of sea scenes from the Park Slope flea market. Five dollars for the pair! I would have paid that just for the frames.
So, I like boats.
